Bella and Bunk children’s book

I am pleased to finally release my first self-published children’s book Bella and Bunk. Bella and Bunk book mockup front cover
I wanted to include a children’s book in my portfolio, and I figured the best way would be to write my own story and then illustrate it. After some inspiration from my daughter’s plush sloth named “Bunk”, I came up with a simple story to use for the project. It was a lot of work, but a ton of fun as well. It allowed me to exercise the many different muscles needed to do a project like this, including ideation, character design, storytelling, illustration, design, layout, and digital publishing.

Because this is primarily a portfolio piece, I wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to get. So I’m giving it away here for FREE in a number of different formats. So download, share, and enjoy … and consider me for your future project that requires illustration!

Here are a few of the digital sketches that were used to create the illustrations.

Book Dummy

I also created a book dummy for this project. This allowed me to have something tangible that I could hold and turn the pages on. It really helps to have something physical like this as I was finishing up the book to make sure everything was right.

Additional Formats

In addition to the EPUB, PDF, and image, I do have a Kindle version available on the Amazon Kindle store. There isn’t an easy way to make a book available for free on Kindle, so I have it listed at 99¢. Again, because it’s mainly a portfolio piece I don’t want to make people pay for it, but it will be an interesting experiment to see how it does on the Kindle Store. Printed Hardcover Book

I got a few books printed as case wrap hardcover books, and I like how they turned out.
